Firing up the AC with pair of Honda 2K's. Problem

Ok, first for those that kept your directions is there a set order on the parallel cables, mine have black/red and the separate ground, didn't seem to matter which went where just as long as they were in the same positions on both.
On to the real show, fridge is on gas, nothing is running, Honda's running for a few minutes and I fire up the AC and it tried to crank. Eco throttle was on. Go check the gens and they both have thrown the overload light, next time I wait about 5 minutes, ECOthrottle off and after waiting for about 5 minutes trying to get the to come on (had to put it on AUTO and still had to wait a few) and it was good after that. Am I doing something wrong.

RE: Who tows in Overdrive?

You diesel guys are just bragging.
You drive a HEAVY DUTY TRUCK. If you couldn't do that I'd be surprised.
And to the dodge guy on page 5. Get a new tranny guy. No OD in towing (HD's excluded) is a Mopar Standard.

RE: Tire pressure adjustment

You may have your TV tires at a different pressure front to rear if there is a big difference in load front to rear. I know a lot of SUV/Truck guys on other sites (when not towing) keep the rear tires a a slightly lower pressure than front due to the motor's weight.

RE: Tire pressure and bounce

Can someone explain why you should keep your TT tires at max pressure but you should air up your TV tires according to load?

RE: Where to place the level when levelling

I put mine on the floor. When going camping my fridge is usually loaded up and fridge has always worked fine even when it's hooked to the Tahoe which is a fairly nose down fashion.

RE: More Campers on the Highways

I've heard that many people instead of spending thousands on a vacation people are buying TT's and taking them out several times during the summer. I was out in early June and saw what averaged out to a TT or RV every 45 seconds going the other way.

RE: 2005 Chevy Tahoe Z71-Towing

GVW on that camper is right at your tow capacity which is 7800#. Z71s in 05 either had a 3.42 or 4.10 axles so 4.10s would be real nice. It seems a bit long but unless completely loaded down you are within your limits.

RE: Propane Generator?

I have a buddy with a propane generator and he said it sucks down fuel. I can't imagine that would be good as he has 60# on board but heating and running the fridge on his 5er could put you in a pickle real quick I would think. I can go a year or two on 60# with my little TT.
And it's a PITA to refill tanks in comparison to getting my fuel cans refueled for my Hondas.

RE: Will a Honda 2000 run one of the new "efficient" A/Cs?

My reading on this site kind of indicated that running the A/C isn't the problem. But that running the A/C at less than what its trying to pull can cause damage to the unit.

RE: K&N air filters

Another question, why change to 5" exhust pipes? I really need to sit down and talk about owning this rig with a for real, good mech.
For friends truck it dropped his EGT's by 200-500 degrees depending on whether or not he was under load.

RE: Overfilling fresh water tank

The only thing I've ever noticed is that when I put the hose down in the fill, it can keep the water from running out and I heard some popping so keep an eye out because the hose was actually pressurizing the tank.

RE: K&N air filters

Yup, when installed properly they do work fine. But there is no known benefit to them, so what is the point?
How do you know? There are guys on here that say it helped their vehicle. You know for a fact that it didn't? You KNOW that they are useless for all vehicles? I noticed a gain in MPG immediately after putting one in my Tahoe. So I imagined that?
I'm saying they work, not the same amount for all vehicles and for some it may be negligible but to make a universal statement like you are is just proving ignorance.
And if you don't install it correctly it will let a lot of dirt in.
The only point I can get from this statement is that we should never change or check our filters as removing the stock one and putting a new "stock" one in incorrectly will let dirt in, that's not K&N Filter related.

RE: I'm apprenhensive to even broach this subject

I didn't get all the way through this but I'll say this. Look at what all is being done. It seemed like a lot of the stuff you mentioned that he sets up (rug, chairs, hammock) have nothing to do with what RV you have. also think about the ability to drive the truck into town and leave, etc.

RE: K&N air filters

Lets think about it....if it did all it claims to do, don't you think it would already be on your truck???
NO. Because they do not build motors to be optimized for performance. They build them to be most compliant with federal guidelines and efficiency and most of all cost effective. If they came out in optimum shape there wouldn't be companies like SuperChips, BullyDog, Edge, K&N, Mobil 1, etc. Because every vehicle would come with the best on it.
Look at the top end cars, Vipers/Vettes/GT's, and they often times come with things they aren't going to put on a mid-range car.

RE: Dodge CTD 6.7 liter mpg

If on the hills you get better mileage. At least how I think. YOu burn some more going up but get a lot better going down.
And the Average MPG police on here are bad. If you burned XX gallons and drove XXX miles then you averaged XX.X mpg. There's no real need to average over a bunch of tanks unless your claiming "my truck averages XX mpg" . For that tank you did really well. Sweet, I have a buddy with one of those 6.7s and I can't wait to see how they turn out, they've got big shoes to fill.

RE: tire pressure question

(snip)
Some will tell you to max out the pressure when towing which is wrong as well as that would be when the tire is loaded to max capacity (per the sidewall). Most tires will never see that.
I haul per max axle loads and only max sidewall psi will work which is the correct pressure.
By the way those tire pressure charts are for "minimum" pressure for that weight which leaves no fudge factor for those road hazard events/max speed driving or days when the temps go tripple digit/etc.
Door placards for tire pressure and tire pressure charts make a good starting place but learn to read your tires for long term reliability and long mileage. Your tires will be happier.
Jim
I said that most will never see it. If you do that's fine. But for instance I have tires on my Tahoe that are rated for about 3200# a piece. The 'Hoe weighs about 5600#. Some people instantly say to air all the way up to Max when towing. In my case, I could put my TT on top of my Tahoe and not be at max load.
I just pointed that out as some people just say air up to 65 or 80psi when towing and that can cause handling problems. I keep my Tahoe at about 50-55 not towing, 65 when towing. Max pressure is 80.
